Jim Hudelson was elected to his first term as a Board member on the Hughson Union Elementary School District in 1988. A life-long resident of Hughson, Mr. Hudelson’s family was one of the first families to settle in the area in 1853. Jim has a long history of supporting the education of Hughson children serving on both the Hughson Elementary and Hughson Union High School Districts’ boards prior to unification and now on the unified district for a combined total of 25+ years. Jim is a sixth generation farmer whose great grandfather, Forest Hudelson, served on the original school board in 1920 and later his grandfather, Warren in 1930. The first school in Hughson was on Hudelson property at the NW corner of Tully and Whitmore.

Jim has been married to his wife Diane for over 35 years and has three grown sons, all graduates of Hughson Schools.

In addition to his board service, Mr. Hudelson has devoted many years of service to the Hughson Fire Dept., the Farm Bureau, the Hughson Youth Center and coached youth baseball for ten years.

Randee Harcrow is a long-time Hughson resident and a Hughson High School graduate. She has been married to Jason Harcrow (also a HHS graduate) for 20 years. They have two sons; one a recent graduate, and the other currently attending Hughson High School.

Mrs. Harcrow began her career in the College of Education at California State University, Stanislaus working for the Great Valley Writing Project. She is currently employed as an educator for Modesto City Schools where she has taught Resource, Special Day, and General Education students in grades 1-6. She has served on school leadership teams to develop policies for positive behavioral intervention and support systems.

Mrs. Harcrow has been an involved parent with the schools and community. In that capacity she has served as a classroom volunteer, team mom, community volunteer, and Sunday school teacher.

Daniel Sexton was appointed by the Board January 22, 2015.

Mr. Sexton is a long-time Hughson resident and a Hughson High School graduate, who has been married to Robin Adams Sexton (also a HHS graduate) for over 22 years. They have two sons, both who attended Hughson schools.

Mr. Sexton has been employed as an outside sales consultant for the last 15+ years. Mr. Sexton has been an involved parent with the schools and community, serving as room-parent and as a youth baseball coach for six years.

Randall (Randy) Heckman was elected to Hughson Unified School District Board in 2005.  Mr. Heckman came to Hughson in 1969 when he was employed by the Hughson Union High School District. During the 30+ years Mr. Heckman worked for the Hughson Schools, he served as a teacher, coach, counselor, vice-principal, principal and District Superintendent for the Hughson Union High School District, and was subsequently hired to become the first Superintendent of the Hughson Unified School District. He served in that capacity until July of 2000 when he retired and began a consulting service (Professional Resources) with his wife, Pat. 

In addition to consulting, Mr. Heckman also works for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and has served as a chairperson for school accreditation teams both stateside and overseas.

Cindy Cunningham-Gipp was initially appointed to the board in 2008 and then elected by voters in 2009. A long-time Hughson resident, Mrs. Cunningham-Gipp attended Hughson schools and graduated from HHS and has a degree in Organizational Behavior from UCSF.  She is an Employee Benefits Consultant for a local insurance broker and she and her husband, Mike, own and operate a local heating and air conditioning business.


Mrs. Cunningham-Gipp has previously served as a member of the HUSD Citizens Bond Oversight Committee, Fox Road School Site Council, vice president of the Hughson Chamber of Commerce, and a little league coach.  Her son Cooper is a student at Hughson High School.
